"IT ALL STARTS WITH AN EGG" is a personal story inspired by three types of eggs I encountered as a child and young adult: The tea egg, the century egg, and the braised egg. After writing the story, I was inspired to experiment with photography, graphics, type treatment and ideas for a logo. Writing and researching about eggs around the world led me back to pen and paper. On top of photography, I started to draw out my findings into an illustrative guide.

IT IS A MANTRA OF MINE to get outside of the digital space and work with my hands. Allowing the ink to spill in front of me, forces me to play with interesting moments in real-time. This is a great way to work organically, practice my sense of reaction, and test my intuition. Sea creatures and aliens is what I saw emerging on my canvas.

I LOVE GREAT EXERPIENCES. I love it more when I encounter them outside of digital spaces. The HX project is a collection of installations, ideas and experiments that transcends the conventional digital environment.

Machine learning, AI, autonomous cars, gestural interfaces are on the rise. The line between what is real and digital has become increasingly blurry. As experience designers, I think it is important to explore outside spaces, before re-designing within pixel-perfect spaces. Whether its “Skyli” a resting station for trekkers in Iceland, or the amazing “Little Sun”; tiny solar lamps that provide sustainable energy, I am inspired when a project challenges our natural or digital landscape. Sometimes the best experiences exist between a hot cup of tea, and your smart phone.

DID YOU KNOW 20% of the population is Dyslexic? Did you know 50% of self-made millionaires are Dyslexics? Did you know 1 out of 2 Nasa Scientists are Dyslexic?

Although the severity is unique from person to person, Dyslexics often have difficulty orientating letters. While it impacts learning, it is not a problem of intelligence. Dyslexics simply have a different way to learn and think. Picasso, Steve Jobs, Einstein, Richard Branson, and John Lennon are a few of the great people in our time that have been diagnosed with Dyslexia.

I've always been curious by how design can play a more accessible role. Unforunately, a lot of design and typography relies on symmetry which happens to work strongly against people with Dyslexia. Letters that are very similar in form such as 'o, c, s and e' are easily swapped, flipped and rotated.

This book provides a simulated experience into what Dysleixia could feel like, but it is also an investigation into 'Dyslexie', a typeface designed by Christian Boer. 'Dysleixie' is inspired by Christian's own personal struggles with Dyslexia. The key thing to note is that 'Dyslexie' accentuates the differences between characters. Heavy bottoms, inclined letters, enlarged openings, high x-heights are all intentionally designed to keep the letterfrom in place.

"EVERYTHING IS NOT A RULE, IT IS A SUGGESTION." A very smart french man told me this once, and I liked it. Since then, I've always kept this mantra in mind when I design, and I try to have fun with it when I do. This is an early-stage exploration into the milou brand/work mark.

I often gravitate towards opposites. I love it when futuristic designs evoke a nostalgic feel. I love it when bold and simple, carries a drop of whimsy. If I could sum it up in a nutshell, the blue tones evoke my techy/sporty side. The yellow evokes my love for whimsy and story. The red evokes my passion for design thinking, and to always question everything.
